GOTTMAN METHOD COUPLES COUNSELING IN FLORIDA

Restart your life together.

My approach to helping couples save their relationship is based on the work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman.

For over 40 years, Drs. John and Julie Gottman have devoted their life to the research and practice of fostering healthy, long-lasting relationships through the training of clinicians and the creation of transformative products for couples around the world.

Their research and analysis span over four decades (and thousands of couples) and provides targeted insight into marital stability and divorce precursors.

The Gottman approach is effective because every relationship intervention method we use has been extensively tested.

The other unique thing about this approach is the structure of how the counseling is facilitated.

Before we begin counseling, there is an initial relationship assessment period that consists of four sessions:

SESSION 1

I’ll meet with both partners.

SESSION 2

I’ll meet with one partner.

SESSION 3

I’ll meet with the other partner.

SESSION 4

I’ll meet with both of you again.

Gottman Method counselors don’t guess or speculate. We facilitate research-based assessments that identify key indicators of your relationship stability.

In your fourth assessment session, we’ll review the results of your relationship assessment and identify a goal for your counseling journey. I’ll construct a treatment plan or roadmap to help you move forward. In future sessions, we’ll work on specific tools, interventions, and practices to help you continue moving closer to your relationship goals.

The relationship assessment period enables me to understand what's really going on between you.

After your relationship assessment sessions, counseling will begin.

As a Gottman Method couples therapist:

  • I will teach you proven ways to evolve how you communicate and understand each other so you can become (and remain) close and intimate as lovers and friends.

  • I will help you learn new solutions (backed by decades of research) so you can manage your conflicts in ways that replace destructive patterns with meaningful interactions.

  • I will give you tools and practices that help you create a life together that feels fulfilling for each of you.

Getting started is easy...

Schedule a quick 20-minute consultation.

I’ll learn a little about you and answer your questions so we can see if I’m the right counselor for you.

Couples Counseling begins with a comprehensive assessment. This will be the first four sessions.

The first session will be an assessment of the couple and will last 90 minutes. The second and third sessions will be individual sessions with each partner. These sessions will be 55 minutes each. The fourth session will be with both partners and will last 90 minutes. During the fourth session, I will share the results of the assessment, and we will collaborate on goals which will outline the remainder of our journey together.

You‘ll look forward to your weekly sessions.

Every time we meet you‘ll learn new coping skills that help life feel less heavy and hard. What‘s more? I’ll be a support system between sessions via text support.
